Systemic Hyperlocal
Web 2.0 for Digital Literacy and Economic Sustainability in the 21st Century

As a synthesizer and educator I am interested in the synergies created when various elements of a system are created and combined.  Confronting the profound and game changing implications of the transition to a knowledge economy, I have returned to the region I live in for inspiration and guidance. Our experience in the virtual world and in the Dominican Republic opened a world of possibilities that could be realized at home, or perhaps anywhere. Jan Herder

#LamoilleVT

A Knowledge Base for the Lamoille Region of Vermont
The purpose of the knowledge base is to create a knowledge hub, a living resource and portal to the region, with all of the depth and detail that we, as a community, can provide. As we transition to a knowledge based economy the process of creating this wiki will be both the means and the end; the product and the experience of building 21st Century Literacy's. A deep and thorough knowledge of what makes our region unique, its rich history and traditions, its creative residents and diverse businesses, its wealth of natural resources and life--are the sustainable foundations of wealth creation in the emerging economy of the 21st Century. Participation and user contributions create an interlinked media ecology that embraces our region and biome in the context of our global connections.

21st Century Literacy's

Ecoliteracy is the Unifying 21st Century Literacy
A paradigm shift is occurring in education, in business, in consciousness.  Of all the Literacy’s heralded for the 21st Century, ecoliteracy is the basis of them all and the foundation upon which to rebuild our awareness.  The Partnership for 21st Century Skills includes Environmental Literacy, yet they fail to see the underlying system dynamics: that all literacy’s are ecosystems within even more inclusive ecosystems.  Ecoliteracy is thus the unifying literacy and will be the most important one for the survival of the species. In a hybrid constructivist and connectivist epistemology, media ecology and the construction of media ecosystems is critical for skill acquisition, wealth creation and wisdom.  Applied hyperlocally in a global context, contributors attain digital literacy in the act of creation and participation of these ecosystems and their components.

Synergy Nepal
