Virtual Worlds & Web 2.0 for Emergence: FUNGLODE, Dominican Republic 2008- 2009

Web 2.0 The Use of http://funglodeNing.com (no longer active)
We started by using Ning. Ning is a simple aggregator, a social networking tool, that is an untapped powerhouse of connectivity. We are all learning about these powers of connectivity together as the Web matures. You can begin a process of self knowledge by defining yourself in a profile and develop that in Groups in a focused Ning. As creator and facilitator of the Ning and with the idea that the kind of community we wanted to create, we set about to welcome and invite citizens and friends of the Dominican Republic. What for? To use these tools and be introduced Web 2.0 and virtual worlds through Second Life. The ning application provided a bridge and a portal to the community, and Second Life. All of the wonderful media available in the Ning provided a way for people of multiple intelligences to interact in a range of intimacy, depending on one's interest. The percentage of people on the ning who had avatars was actually very small, around 10%. But the community has a life of its own and often intersected with Second Life, creating surprises, as collaboration, ideas and groups emerged.
